We are not alone

Though we typically focus on last month's adventures, we decided to make an exception this time.  Because traveling gives you some interesting perspective on the anniversary of 9/11

What do you mean we're only halfway?!

The title pretty much says it all:

What do you mean we're only halfway?!

So July found us back on Bora Bora.  Which, if you're going to be outside the US for the 4th of July, a former WW2 US island battle fortress/Pacific paradise ain't too shabby a place to fly old glory.  They even had a party for us.  Though some American traditions did get slightly "altered" in translation as you can see in "Bora Bora 4th of July"

It's the effort that counted though.  You become very much more aware of the birthday of your nation when you're so far away from it.

And we got into a canoe race and managed to not completely embarrass ourselves in "The Tahiti-Moorea Rendezvous"!

(can't say the same about when Greg tried to blow the conch shell though...)

We finally at long last got some video of a Polynesian church choir singing.  You may not have heard but Polynesians have a reputation for jaw-droopingly good church music.  They most certainly lived up to the hype.  Check out our post "Polynesian Singing".

Here's hoping your 4th was as good as ours!

Extra Awesome

OK look, June was awesome for us.

We know, we know, but June was EXTRA awesome for us.

We debated the difference between cultural heritage and sexual exploitation in Fine Line Between Cute and Slutty.

Explored Battle Fortress: South Pacific (AKA Bora Bora before it became all lovey-dovey),

Fell to the Dark side of cruising (no light sabers though...pity),

...and Greg got dog piled by stingrays.  Mostly because Tiffany was too smart to actually hold the food bag.

Greg wanted to say thanks for all the birthday wishes.  It's good to be missed.

All the best from Paradise,

-Greg and Tiffany Norte

Tahiti's better looking little sister

This month the blog finds us on Tahiti's "little sister" island of Moorea, but no one tell Tahiti her little sister is prettier OK?

What do you mean sinking!

We make the supreme sacrifice to report to you on what it's actually like to live in an overwater bungalow (hint - the private dolphin shows were a huge plus!)

Bungalow Living

And we visit a local turtle hospital that was both heart breaking and amazing

Outside the Bungalow - Dolphins and Sea Turtles!

Finally Greg celebrated his second South Pacific Birthday last month, here's his note to everyone:

So, when are you coming home?

The thing Greg missed most on his birthday was his friends, so he loves to hear from you!  On the plus side, things should finally be getting warmer where you all are right? Right?!  It can't still be snowing up there! ;-)

All the best from paradise,

-Greg and Tiffany
